Chelsea’s wantaway forward Willian has seemingly been clutching at straws to explain his post-FA Cup Final Instagram picture.
The former Shakhtar Donetsk man has been at the centre of controversy throughout the summer, most recently failing to turn up to training on time after his exploits with Brazil in the World Cup.
But a tumultuous pre-season period started after Chelsea beat Manchester United 1-0 in Antonio Conte’s final match in charge.

Willian, who had fallen out of favour with the former Juventus and Italy coach, posted a picture at the time of the Blues celebrating lifting the trophy – but Conte was hidden behind a series of trophy emojis.
And the 29-year-old, who reached the World Cup quarter-finals in Russia, has finally explained the controversial post.
He told ESPN Brasil: “My daughter was playing with my cell phone and she ended up putting those emojis over Conte.
“After the final I got a plane right after the game to come to Brazil.
“When I got here, early in the morning, I was posting some pictures of the champions and, well, I was a bit too tired and ended up posting them like that.
Conte eventually was replaced by Maurizio Sarri, who made a huge impression with Napoli, transforming the Serie A side into a dynamic, attacking team.
And the forward revealed was pleased to see the back of Conte, despite impressing throughout the season.
“I hope he (Sarri) is not like Conte,” Willian added. “No, I’m kidding. For me, Conte was a manager who was very difficult to work with. His philosophy, his way of dealing with things is very complicated.

“There were a few games, Sometimes we just don’t understand. You’re playing very well, then you get substituted. I do not understand.
“There were two times when I got substituted and I went straight to the locker room. It was hard to work with him.
“The important thing now is to talk about Sarri. From what I heard, I am sure he is a great manager, who does a great job with the team. I have high expectations for working with him.”
